![]() ![]() While the ground pounders are there to take objectives and protect key locations like airbases (which is your HQ and can cause instant lose situations), and bonus on asymmetrical objectives and goals so its not just copy and pasted stats to say the F15 is similar to the Su 27 and the F16 is similar to the Mig 29 to the point where they are just skins of each other. then you'd have heli that can spot down to light vees but still is meh on the infantry while light vees can spot infantryĮach would have its increasingly smaller spotting radius (IE jets can spot a large area but won't see everything) and their speed would affect travel time and how long they can stay operational without resupply.īut the goal is to have jets that can do a lot of heavy lifting, but you need other units to provide spotting info and targeting info for the big guys, while radar sites / vehicles needs to be dealt with via SEAD and strike packages, which needs to be protected by CAP. Part of the whole thing is I was hoping to have a kind of a game where its jets can spot the big guys (tanks, arty, anti air while fighting / moving) while it can't reliably spot light vees (hummers, technicals, etc.) and just plain have issues with infantry. I will check it out and hopefully its what i wantedĮDIT: this doesn't seem like a game, and more like an actual sim tool for military analysts?Īnd on top of that, while I like the air portion of it, the tank/light vee/infantry portion seems to be kind of de-emphasized. Is there a mod, or maybe a different game that I can play to get more of that experience? to take and hold strategic points while the air campaign does its job.īut it feels like the game is designed almost entirely around pre 4th gen fighter and their PGMs. Namely, things like the maverick would be infinitely out of range of AAA based anti air, and that if you got anything modern and PGM based you better bring missile based modern anti air.īut that in the game, the maverick is modeled to be ~3kms, thats not a stand off weapon from a jet, that is the range of something like a shoulder launched modern ATGM or MANPAD.Īnd well, I was hoping to be able to conduct something like Desert Storm, to over spend massively on airforce compared to other branches, and have a small tank core with supporting infantry and etc. I was hoping that red dragon was going to be more simulation / more modern military and its combined arms deal, but it seems that its design is more or less centered around ground pounders.
